How long does it take?
It depends on your case. Fixed braces work continuously, so they are often quicker than aligners for the same movement. Dr Priti gives you an estimate at your consultation.
Fixed braces, made discreet.
Damon Clear brackets are clear and stain-resistant, with a subtle wire, so many people will not notice you are wearing braces. Instead of elastic ties, the bracket has a passive slide that lets the wire move freely. That reduces friction, so the teeth can move with lighter forces, more comfortably, and with fewer visits to tighten anything.
Because the brace is fixed, it is always working. There is nothing to remember to wear and nothing to lose. For crowding, spacing and bite problems that aligners handle less well, a fixed brace in the hands of a Consultant Orthodontist is often the more predictable route to the result you want.

Your Damon Clear treatment, step by step
- 01ConsultationDr Priti examines your teeth and bite, takes a scan and photographs and explains whether a fixed brace is the right choice.
- 02FittingThe brackets are bonded to your teeth and the first wire is fitted. The appointment takes about an hour.
- 03AdjustmentsWires are changed as your teeth move. The passive slide means fewer, quicker visits than traditional braces.
- 04Removal and retainersThe braces come off, your teeth are polished and your retainers are fitted the same day.
Damon Clear, Invisalign or metal braces?
Invisalign is removable and almost invisible but relies on 22 hours of wear a day. Metal braces are the most economical fixed option and just as effective. Lingual braces sit behind the teeth and are completely hidden. Dr Priti uses all of them and recommends on what your teeth need, not on the system's marketing.

Risks and what to expectTeeth ache for a few days after fitting and after wire changes, and brackets can rub the lips and cheeks at first; wax and painkillers help. Fixed braces trap food, so cleaning takes more effort, and poor cleaning leaves permanent white marks on the enamel. Brackets can come loose and need re-bonding. Tooth roots can shorten slightly with any tooth movement. Teeth tend to drift back after treatment, so retainers are essential, usually at night, for the long term.

Will other people be able to tell I have Damon Clear braces?
Many will not. The brackets are clear and resist staining throughout treatment, without the elastic ties that can yellow on other clear braces.
How do I keep my braces and teeth clean?
Without elastic ties there are fewer places for plaque to collect. Use a normal brush and interdental brushes around the brackets and wires, and keep up your hygiene visits. Good cleaning is what protects your enamel during treatment.
Will the braces affect my speech?
Not noticeably. The brackets are small and you adjust to them within a few days.
Can I remove my Damon Clear braces?
No. They are fixed to your teeth for the whole of treatment and removed by Dr Priti when it is complete. That is one of their advantages: they are always working, and there is nothing to lose or forget.
Why do I need to wear a retainer afterwards?
Because all teeth tend to drift back towards where they started. A retainer, usually worn at night, keeps them where your treatment put them.
