How much does an examination cost?
Your first appointment with us is £76 (usually £95) and includes 4 small X-rays. A routine examination after that is £85.
Who will examine me?
Dr Glafcos Tombolis, our principal dentist, carries out your examination. He has practised since 1998 and founded Ethicare in 2008.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Our Denplan plans from £24.82 a month cover your examinations, hygiene visits and X-rays, with 10% off private treatment.
How long does it take?
Allow about 30 minutes for a new patient appointment. A routine examination is usually shorter. We will tell you when your next one is due before you leave.
Catch it early, keep the tooth.
A broken tooth or a lost filling is easy to repair. The more useful question is why it happened, and what we can do to stop it happening again. That is what a proper examination is for. We look at your teeth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a check for signs of mouth cancer, and we show you what we find on screen.
We ask about your general health and anything you would like to change about your smile, then we put a plan in writing with the costs, starting with the most conservative option.

- 01Your historyWe ask about your general health, your dental history and how you are feeling now, and anything you would like to improve.
- 02The clinical checkDr Glafcos examines your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, and screens for signs of mouth cancer.
- 03X-rays if neededSmall digital X-rays show decay between the teeth and under fillings. They are only taken when there is a reason to.
- 04Your planIf anything needs doing, you leave with a written plan, the options and the prices, and a date for your next check.

If you are in pain or something has broken, book an emergency appointment rather than a routine examination: we can usually see you the same day or within 24 hours. If you are due a clean, a hygiene appointment can be booked alongside your examination.

How often do I need a dental examination?
As often as your teeth and gums need, which is not necessarily every six months. Some patients need to be seen more often, some less. We tell you when to book your next examination at the end of each appointment.
What will my treatment plan involve?
There are usually several options, and we explain each one. You will always be given a written estimate first, so you understand the likely cost and what is involved before you decide. For complex plans, things can change along the way, and we will tell you if they do.
Can I spread the cost of treatment after my examination?
Yes. Routine care can be covered by a Denplan plan from £24.82 a month, and 0% finance through Tabeo is available on treatment carried out by Dr Glafcos, subject to status.
Will I need an X-ray as part of my examination?
Only when the benefit is likely to outweigh the risk. Your new patient appointment includes 4 small X-rays because they show what an examination alone cannot. After that, X-rays are taken at the intervals the guidelines recommend for you.
How do I register as a new patient?
Book a new patient appointment (£76, usually £95) online or by calling 020 8870 5059, and fill in the registration form before you arrive. That is all it takes.
