Losing a tooth doesn't just leave a gap. The bone underneath it starts to shrink. An implant replaces the root, not just the tooth. A titanium post goes into the jaw, the bone grows around it, and the crown goes on top. Your bite works again, and the bone you still have is protected.

This is an implant day at Ethicare Dental. Every instrument is sterilised and laid out before anyone sits down. Our surgical team gowns up, the same as any operating theatre. It looks like a great deal of fuss for one small titanium post. That's rather the point. We'd rather be careful than quick.
