Porcelain veneers in Putney
A thin piece of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth. Still the most predictable way to transform teeth that are misshapen, crooked and discoloured at once, and, because it removes enamel for good, the treatment we suggest last, not first.

Veneers at Ethicare, in brief
How much do veneers cost?
Porcelain veneers start from £850 per tooth. Composite bonding, the less invasive alternative, is £295 – £400 per tooth.
Who does the treatment?
Dr Glafcos Tombolis plans and fits your veneers. They are made by a dental laboratory from a digital scan of your teeth.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. 0% finance through Tabeo is available on treatment with Dr Glafcos, over 3, 6, 10 or 12 months, subject to status.
How long does it take?
Usually two or three visits over three to four weeks: planning and a digital preview, preparation and a scan, then the fitting.

Beautiful, and permanent. So we plan carefully.
Modern veneers are thinner than ever, so the amount of tooth removed is kept to a minimum, and where we can we use a less invasive system. But preparing a tooth for a veneer usually means removing enamel permanently. Once you have veneers you will always have veneers: they last around ten years on average and will need replacing.
That is why we consider the alternatives first: whitening, composite bonding, or straightening with Invisalign or braces. When veneers are the right answer, we take digital scans and images, show you a preview of your new smile on a study model, and agree the shade, which does not have to be whiter than white.
- A digital preview before anything is done
- Thinner porcelain, minimal preparation
- Natural or brighter: you choose the shade
- Alternatives considered first, always
“They took the time to explain things properly and made sure I felt at ease.”
Your veneers, step by step
- 01ConsultationDr Glafcos discusses what you want to change and whether veneers, or something more conservative, will get you there.
- 02PreviewDigital scans and images, and a preview of your new smile on a study model, with the shade agreed.
- 03Preparation and scanA thin layer of enamel is removed under local anaesthetic and a scan goes to the laboratory. Temporary veneers protect the teeth.
- 04FittingEach veneer is checked for shape, size and colour, then bonded to the tooth with a strong dental adhesive.

Do you need veneers at all?
Depending on what you want to change, the alternatives should be considered first: home whitening for colour, composite bonding for shape and small chips, and Invisalign, clear aligners or fixed braces for crooked teeth. Veneers earn their place when a tooth has a combination of problems that nothing else will solve.

Are there alternatives to veneers?
Yes, and we consider them first: Invisalign, clear aligners or conventional braces for crooked teeth, whitening for colour, and composite bonding for shape. Veneers are for teeth with a combination of problems.
How should I look after my veneers?
As you would natural teeth: brush and floss twice a day and keep your regular examinations, so we can check the veneers and the teeth beneath them.
Can veneers break?
Porcelain is strong, but veneers can break if you bite very hard foods, chew pen tops or use your teeth to open things. A fractured veneer has to be replaced.
Is everyone suitable for veneers?
No. Decay and severely crooked teeth need treating first. Sometimes the gum needs reshaping before veneers for the best result, either grafting gum where it has receded or lengthening short, worn teeth, and we would explain that at your consultation.
Will my veneers look natural?
Yes, if you want them to. You choose the shade, and we advise you. Some patients want a very white smile; more muted, natural colours give excellent results too.
