Digital dentistry in Putney
An iTero 3D scanner, digital X-rays, a CT scanner and a dental microscope, all at the practice. Not for their own sake: they let us show you what we see, plan implants before surgery and save teeth we could not save before.

Digital dentistry at Ethicare, in brief
What does it cost?
A small digital X-ray is £19, a full-mouth OPG £80 and a 3D CT scan £215. iTero scans are part of orthodontic consultations and Invisalign packages.
Who uses it?
The whole team. Dr Priti Acharya plans orthodontics from iTero scans, Dr Glafcos Tombolis plans implants from CT scans, and Dr Ahmed Ali works under the microscope on every root canal.
Why does it matter to me?
You see what we see, on screen, before you decide anything. Planning is more accurate, treatment is safer, and there are no messy impressions.
Is it safe?
Digital X-rays use a far lower dose than film, and we only take them when the benefit outweighs the risk. A scan with the iTero involves no radiation at all.

See what we see.
The iTero scanner builds a 3D image of your teeth in minutes, with no impression material, and can show you a predicted result before orthodontic treatment starts. Digital intraoral X-rays give sharp, immediate images that pick up small problems film would miss, at a much lower dose, and can be retaken on the spot if needed.
Our CT scanner shows bone in three dimensions, which is how Dr Glafcos plans the position of every implant before surgery and how complex cases are assessed. Dr Ahmed uses a dental microscope for every root canal treatment, seeing detail the naked eye cannot, which is why teeth other practices would extract can often be saved.
- iTero 3D scanner: no impressions, a preview of results
- Digital X-rays at a far lower dose
- CT scanner for implant planning and complex cases
- A microscope for every root canal
“Loved the service, especially being a wheelchair user. They have made me feel very well taken care of.”
How we use it, step by step
- 01ExaminationSmall digital X-rays where they are needed, viewed with you on screen straight away.
- 02ScanningAn iTero scan for orthodontics, crowns, veneers and retainers, instead of impressions.
- 033D planningA CT scan for implants and surgery, so the position and the bone are known before anything is done.
- 04Precision treatmentRoot canal treatment under the microscope, and implants placed to the plan.
Technology, in proportion
Equipment is only useful when it changes a decision. We do not take X-rays or scans routinely, and we do not recommend treatment because a machine makes it possible. If a simpler approach will serve you as well, that is what we suggest.

What is an iTero scanner?
A digital scanner that creates a 3D image of your teeth in minutes, replacing impression material. We use it for Invisalign and orthodontic planning, where it can show you the predicted outcome before treatment begins, and for crowns, veneers and retainers.
Are digital X-rays safer than film?
The radiation dose is far lower, the images are sharper and available immediately, and they can be adjusted or retaken on the spot. We still only take X-rays when they are needed.
When would I need a CT scan?
Mainly for implant planning and placement, oral surgery, and to look closely at the jaw and bone in complex cases. A 3D CT scan at Ethicare is £215.
Why is a microscope used for root canal treatment?
It lets Dr Ahmed Ali see and treat the finest details inside a tooth, which means more teeth can be saved, more safely, than with the naked eye.
