How much does a child's examination cost?
£70 for children aged 16 and under, new or returning. A hygiene appointment for children is £70.
Who will see my child?
Dr Glafcos Tombolis examines every child. Simple fillings and emergency care are carried out here; more complex children's treatment is referred to a paediatric colleague.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Children's Denplan plans start from £23.16 a month and cover two exams and two hygiene or oral health education visits a year.
When should my child first visit?
Bring them along to your own appointments from a very young age. We start looking as soon as the first teeth come through, and do a fuller check from around three years old.
Good habits start early.
A child who is used to the dentist from the start is far more likely to keep their teeth healthy for life. Every child is given a thorough examination, motivational stickers, advice they can understand and a clean teeth certificate. From the age of five, a hygiene appointment can be arranged where it will help.
As general dentists we carry out simple fillings and emergency treatment for children here at the practice. Where more complex care is needed, we say so and arrange it. If your child needs braces, Dr Priti Acharya, our specialist orthodontist, sees children as well as adults.

As they grow
Most children need nothing more than regular checks and good habits. Where a filling is needed we keep it simple and gentle. Hygiene visits help from age five, and a specialist orthodontic assessment with Dr Priti Acharya is there when the adult teeth are in.

How old does my child need to be to visit the dentist?
Bring your children to your own examination appointments from a very young age, so the practice feels familiar. When their first teeth erupt we start taking a look, and from around three years old we carry out a fuller check.
Do I need to bring my child in when their baby teeth fall out?
No. Baby teeth start to fall out at around six years old and it is a normal part of development. At the next scheduled examination we check that the adult teeth are coming through correctly. If there is pain or swelling, call us.

Can my child have braces at Ethicare?
Yes. Dr Priti Acharya, our specialist orthodontist, treats children and teenagers as well as adults, and works at the practice on Saturdays.
