You may find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.
Invisalign aligners are very comfortable to wear, with the thin design ensuring they are snug over your teeth and can’t irritate your mouth or become loose. You will easily be able to wear your aligners for the 22 hours per day needed to achieve incredible results.
In order to achieve the best results from your Invisalign treatment, you need to wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, to allow the gentle forces to get to work. Your aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and for playing contact sports, but it is important to remember to put them back in your mouth as soon as possible.
This depends on the individual, but most people will suffer some degree of sensitivity with tooth whitening treatment. The reason sensitivity occurs is that a reversible inflammatory reaction is set up within the tooth.nnThankfully, at Ethicare Dental we are experts in dealing with sensitivity. Home whitening produces lower grade sensitivity, but the sensitivity can still be reduced by constructing super sealed trays and by applying de-sensitisers prior and during the home whitening. The sensitivity is temporary, and will fade once treatment is complete.
If you lose or break one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible so we can advise you what to do. In the meantime, we suggest you wear an aligner from your previous set so your teeth are not able to move too far out of position. We may advise that you move directly onto your next set of aligners if this will suit your individual treatment plan.
Invisalign uses a system to categorise providers based on their experience and the number of successful cases they achieve. As a Gold provider, we complete many Invisalign cases per year and have a lot of experience in the treatment. Your smile is in safe hands.
The length of Invisalign treatment varies from case to case, but most are completed in 9-18 months. A straightforward case will have a faster treatment time, whilst patients whose teeth need more movements to reach their dream outcome can expect to wear their aligners for longer. Your dentist will let you know your estimated treatment time at your initial consultation appointment.
Yes, it is very important to wear retainers after your Invisalign treatment. Retainers work to keep your teeth in their new straighter positions, stopping them from moving out of place and undoing all the hard work of treatment. To maintain your new straight smile, we recommend you wear your retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for the long term.
